WWW Wednesday is a weekly tag hosted on Taking on a World of Words which asks three easy questions…
What are you currently reading?
I’m 67 pages into My Year of Rest and Relaxation and it’s different to what I’d expected.
It’s a cover that’s hard to miss and gave me the impression it would be about a young woman who decides to take some time to herself involving some soul searching, romance, an eventual hiccup with the conclusion that she would reboot wiser and with everything in its right place.
Having avoided it because of my ‘blah’ first impression, I was surprised to read about a woman who decides to take sometime to herself but who is heavily reliant on drugs and just wants to sleep to, in essence, shut the entire world out. I’m enjoying it so far. I like the narrator’s sugar-free honesty and the car crash relationship with her best friend Reva.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m most drawn to Human Croquet because I think it’s a time lapse/parallel life premise which I enjoy. I tried Emotionally Weird a couple of years ago and couldn’t get into it but am thinking of that too. Finally, The Reader on the 6.27 has been on my shelf for too many years and seems charming and – hopefully – uncomplicated so that’s also fairly appealing!
What did you recently finish reading?
I’ve just finished Waiting for Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey.
It was a nice, easy and predictable read. I think it’s the first in a series so I can see myself reading the next ones on holidays to come.
