‘The Thirteenth Tale’ – Diane Setterfield

London, November 2008

Setterfield had a really engaging was of creating atmosphere – and it was genuinely creepy. On reflection, I’m not sure who the girl in white was – was it Adeline or Vida? It would make more sense to me for it to be Adeline.

I loved the setting as well – winter, warm fires and snow. Hideous bit with the fire baby – well pretty much all the characters met a bad ending.
